Seat Match

Seat Match (Seat Module Configuration)
Seat Match is a scanner function used to configure, pair, or initialize power seat control modules, particularly on vehicles with memory seats, heated/ventilated seats, seat-mounted airbag sensors, and occupant detection systems. Modern power seats contain their own dedicated electronic control module that manages seat motor position, seat memory (driver presets), seat-mounted side airbag deployment, heated and cooled seat elements, lumbar adjustment, massage functions, and occupant weight/position detection. When a seat assembly is replaced (such as from a salvage vehicle), the seat module must be configured to communicate properly with the vehicle’s SRS system, BCM, and memory systems — without this matching procedure, the replacement seat’s module may not be recognized on the CAN Bus network, which can disable the side airbags, trigger SRS warning lights, and prevent seat memory and power functions from operating.
The Seat Match function on the YOUCANIC UCAN-II scanner allows you to register a replacement seat module to the vehicle’s SRS system (critical for side airbag functionality), configure seat memory positions and key-off behavior, calibrate seat position sensors that the ODS/OPDS uses for airbag deployment decisions, and clear seat module DTCs. This function is particularly important on Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and other European vehicles where the seat module is tightly integrated with the vehicle’s safety and comfort systems. After replacing a seat, the SRS warning light will typically remain on until the new seat module is properly matched and the crash sensor codes are cleared. Common scenarios requiring Seat Match include installing a replacement seat from a salvage yard, swapping seats between vehicles (such as upgrading to heated seats), replacing the seat control module after water damage or electrical failure, and after seat track or slider replacement that required disconnecting the module. Always verify that the replacement seat’s airbag and sensor specifications are compatible with your vehicle before attempting a Seat Match — mismatched components can compromise occupant safety.
