TPMS Relearn
📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
TPMS Relearn is the process of registering each tire pressure sensor’s unique RF identification code with the vehicle’s TPMS receiver module so it correctly identifies which sensor belongs to which wheel position. Relearn is required after tire rotation (so the system knows which sensor moved where), new sensor installation, wheel or tire replacement, and when sensors are swapped between vehicles. Without relearn after rotation, the dashboard display shows pressures in the wrong positions — the front-left reading might actually be the rear-right tire.
Three relearn methods exist: OBD2 relearn (the YOUCANIC UCAN-II writes sensor IDs directly to the TPMS module through the OBD port — fastest and most reliable), auto-relearn (put module in learn mode via dashboard procedure, then drive 10-20 minutes at 15+ MPH for the system to identify sensors by position), and stationary relearn (use a TPMS trigger tool to activate each sensor in sequence while the module listens). The method required depends on the vehicle manufacturer. After relearn, verify all four positions display correct pressures.
