2013–2022

The Acura ILX was first showcased as a concept at the 2012 North American International Auto Show and later as a production version at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. It introduced a novel design concept termed “aero-fused dynamics” and was manufactured at Honda’s Greensburg, Indiana facility, with U.S. sales commencing in May. The car featured a strong body structure using 59% high-strength steel and aluminum for select components. Notably, it improved upon the Civic with unique suspension dampers and a more rigid steering shaft for enhanced handling and ride quality.   Options for the ILX were grouped into Premium and Technology packages, offering a range of features, including leather upholstery, 17-inch alloy wheels, navigation, premium audio, and advanced headlamps. These packages also included a multi-view rear backup camera. In 2014, the standard ILX model had features like 17-inch wheels, a leather interior, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a tri-angle backup camera, and an audio subwoofer with Active Noise Cancellation. However 2015, Acura discontinued the ILX Hybrid due to poor sales performance, with only 2,660 Hybrid units sold since its introduction through May 2014.
