About this video

Replacing the license plate lights on a 2011-2017 BMW X3 F25 is a relatively simple process. Here’s a general guide on how to do it:

Tools/Items Needed:

Replacement license plate light bulbs (make sure they are compatible with your BMW X3 F25)
Flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool
Instructions:

Locate the License Plate Lights:
The license plate lights are typically located above or around the license plate on the rear of the vehicle.
Access the Bulb Housing:
Look for a plastic cover or lens covering the license plate light bulb housing. This cover may have a notch or indentation for removal.
Use a flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool to gently pry open the cover. Be careful not to damage the surrounding trim.
Remove the Old Bulbs:
Once the cover is removed, you’ll see the license plate light bulbs inside the housing. Carefully remove the old bulbs by gently pulling them straight out of their sockets.
Insert the New Bulbs:
Take the replacement license plate light bulbs and insert them into the sockets. Ensure they are seated properly and securely.
Replace the Cover or Lens:
Once the new bulbs are installed, replace the plastic cover or lens over the bulb housing. Press it firmly into place until it snaps or clicks into position.
Test the License Plate Lights:
Test the license plate lights to ensure the new bulbs are working properly. Turn on the vehicle’s headlights or parking lights and check if the license plate is illuminated.
Repeat for the Other Side (if applicable):
If your BMW X3 F25 has license plate lights on both sides of the rear license plate, repeat the above steps for the other side.
Dispose of the Old Bulbs Properly:
Dispose of the old license plate light bulbs properly at a designated recycling center or automotive waste disposal facility.
Replacing the license plate lights in your BMW X3 F25 helps ensure visibility and compliance with legal requirements. If you’re unsure about any steps or encounter difficulties during the process, consider consulting a professional mechanic for assistance.

In this detailed DIY tutorial, we based on a 2011 BMW X3 equipped with a 3.0L gasoline engine and automatic transmission. This guide is applicable to BMW X3 models from 2011 to 2017 (F25 series).
