About this video

Replacing the side mirror on a 2011-2017 BMW X3 F25 can vary depending on whether you’re replacing just the glass or the entire mirror assembly. Here’s a general guide covering both scenarios:

Replacing the Side Mirror Glass:

Tools/Items Needed:

Replacement side mirror glass
Flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool
Instructions:

Remove the Old Mirror Glass:
Use a flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool to carefully pry the old mirror glass away from the mirror housing. Be gentle to avoid damaging the housing.
Disconnect the Heating Element (if applicable):
If your BMW X3 F25 is equipped with heated side mirrors, carefully disconnect the wiring harness connected to the heating element on the back of the mirror glass.
Install the New Mirror Glass:
If applicable, reconnect the wiring harness for the heating element.
Position the new side mirror glass in place on the mirror housing.
Press firmly around the edges of the mirror glass to ensure it is securely seated in the housing.
Test the Mirror Functions:
Turn on the ignition and test the functions of the side mirror, including adjustment and heating (if applicable), to ensure everything is working properly.
Replacing the Entire Side Mirror Assembly:

Tools/Items Needed:

Replacement side mirror assembly
Socket and ratchet set
Trim removal tools
Assistant (optional)
Instructions:

Disconnect the Battery (Optional):
For safety purposes, you may want to disconnect the vehicle’s battery before starting the replacement process to avoid any electrical issues.
Remove the Interior Door Panel:
Start by removing the interior door panel to access the mirror mounting bolts. This typically involves removing screws and clips holding the panel in place, as well as disconnecting any electrical connectors for window switches and door locks.
Locate and Remove the Mirror Mounting Bolts:
Once the door panel is removed, locate the mounting bolts securing the side mirror to the door frame. These bolts may be covered by trim pieces or insulation.
Use a socket and ratchet to remove the mounting bolts. Keep track of the bolts and any associated hardware.
Disconnect the Mirror Wiring Harness:
Carefully disconnect the wiring harness connected to the back of the mirror assembly. This harness controls the mirror adjustment and heating functions.
Remove the Old Mirror Assembly:
Once the wiring harness is disconnected and the mounting bolts are removed, carefully pull the old side mirror assembly away from the door frame.
Install the New Mirror Assembly:
Position the new side mirror assembly in place on the door frame.
Reconnect the wiring harness to the back of the mirror assembly.
Align the mounting holes on the new mirror assembly with the holes on the door frame, and insert the mounting bolts.
Tighten the Mounting Bolts:
Use a socket and ratchet to tighten the mounting bolts securely. Be careful not to overtighten them, as this could damage the mirror or door frame.
Replace the Interior Door Panel:
Once the new side mirror assembly is installed and secured, reattach the interior door panel by reversing the removal process. Make sure all screws, clips, and electrical connectors are properly secured.
Reconnect the Battery (if disconnected):
If you disconnected the vehicle’s battery at the beginning of the process, reconnect it once the side mirror replacement is complete.
Replacing the side mirror on your BMW X3 F25 can restore functionality and appearance to your vehicle. If you’re unsure about any steps or encounter difficulties during the process, consider consulting a professional mechanic for assistance.
