2015–2018 Jeep Renegade Tail Light Assembly & Brake Light Bulb Replacement

About this video

Brake light out or need to pull a tail light on your Jeep Renegade? In this video we walk you through the complete tail light assembly removal and brake light bulb replacement — step by step — so you can swap your brake, tail, turn signal, and reverse bulbs yourself and stay road-legal.

🔧 WHAT WE COVER
– Accessing and removing the tail light assembly fasteners
– Freeing the assembly and unplugging the bulb holder / connector
– Replacing the brake light, tail light, turn signal, and reverse bulbs
– Reinstalling the assembly so it seats flush with no water leaks
– Testing every function before you finish

🚙 WHICH JEEP RENEGADE THIS APPLIES TO
This was filmed on a pre-facelift Jeep Renegade (BU), which covers the 2015 through 2018 model years.
IMPORTANT: Jeep facelifted the Renegade for the 2019 model year and REDESIGNED the rear tail lamps (the X-pattern LED clusters). The general removal concept is similar, but the 2019–2023 facelift tail lights use different fasteners, bulbs, and layout, so the exact steps will differ for those years. Know whether you have a pre-facelift (2015–2018) or facelift (2019–2023) Renegade before you start.

🔁 RELATED / SISTER MODEL (WIDER HELP)
The Jeep Renegade shares its FCA Small Wide 4×4 platform with the Fiat 500X, built alongside it. The general strategy — finding the fasteners, freeing the assembly, and twisting out the bulb holder — is a helpful reference for Fiat 500X owners too. Note that the 500X has completely different rear styling and its own tail light assemblies, so the fastener locations and exact procedure are different.

🔎 SEARCH TERMS THIS HELPS WITH
Jeep Renegade tail light removal, how to replace tail light Jeep Renegade, Jeep Renegade brake light replacement, Renegade brake light bulb, Jeep Renegade tail light assembly removal, Renegade brake light out, Jeep Renegade turn signal bulb rear, Jeep Renegade reverse light bulb, 2015 2016 2017 2018 Jeep Renegade tail light, Fiat 500X tail light replacement

💡 QUICK TIP
If a bulb still doesn’t work after replacing it, check the bulb holder contacts for corrosion and confirm the fuse isn’t blown — a “dead” brake light isn’t always the bulb. And if only one function is out (brake but not tail, or vice versa) on a dual-filament bulb, that’s your sign the bulb itself has failed.
