2015–2023 Jeep Renegade 2.4L Serpentine Belt & Tensioner Replacement (Step-by-Step DIY)

About this video

In this video, I walk through a complete serpentine belt and belt tensioner replacement on the 2.4L Tigershark (MultiAir 2) engine. I cover belt removal, releasing tension on the automatic tensioner, removing and replacing the tensioner assembly, routing the new belt correctly, and verifying everything spins true before buttoning it up. This is a straightforward DIY job that’ll save you a good chunk over a shop bill.
This generation: This procedure applies to the entire first-generation Jeep Renegade (BU), 2015–2023, including the 2019 facelift/refresh models. If you’ve got a 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, or 2023 Renegade with the 2.4L, you’re in the right place.
Also applies to these vehicles (shared 2.4L Tigershark / MultiAir 2 engine): The same 2.4L engine — and therefore essentially the same belt and tensioner procedure — is found across a wide range of FCA/Stellantis vehicles. If you drive any of these, this video should help you too:

Jeep Cherokee (KL) 2.4L — 2014–2023
Jeep Compass (MP) 2.4L — 2017–2021
Dodge Dart 2.4L — 2013–2016
Chrysler 200 2.4L — 2015–2017
Ram ProMaster City 2.4L
Fiat 500X 2.4L — 2016–2023

Platform/sister vehicle note: The Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500X are built on the same platform and share the 2.4L Tigershark drivetrain, so 500X owners can follow along with this video as well.
Always double-check the belt routing diagram for your specific year and accessory configuration (A/C, etc.), as routing can vary slightly between trims.
