About this video

In this easy-to-follow tutorial, you’ll learn how to replace the engine air filter on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. This guide applies to all 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models built on the GMT900 platform. Regularly replacing the engine air filter is essential for maintaining optimal engine performance, fuel efficiency, and overall vehicle health.

Key Steps:

Gather Necessary Tools: You will need a new engine air filter and possibly a flathead screwdriver to remove any clips.
Locate the Engine Air Filter Housing: Open the hood and find the air filter housing, usually located near the front of the engine bay, covered by a plastic cover.
Remove the Cover: Depending on the model, remove the clips or screws holding the cover in place. Carefully lift off the cover to access the air filter.
Remove the Old Air Filter: Take out the old air filter and inspect it for dirt or damage. Note how it is positioned before removal to ensure proper installation of the new one.
Install the New Air Filter: Place the new air filter in the housing, making sure it fits securely and is oriented correctly.
Reattach the Cover: Put the cover back on and secure it with the clips or screws you removed earlier.
Close the Hood: Ensure everything is secured and close the hood, and you’re done!
Common Symptoms Indicating Air Filter Replacement:

Decreased engine performance or sluggish acceleration.
Reduced fuel efficiency and increased emissions.
Unusual noises from the engine bay, such as hissing or whistling.
Warning light on the dashboard indicating engine performance issues.
