Jeep Renegade Common Problems You Should Know Before Buying (2015-2023)

Thinking about buying a Jeep Renegade, or already own one? In this video, we go over the most common problems reported on the first generation Jeep Renegade (BU), covering model years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, including the 2019 facelift models.
We cover the issues Renegade owners run into most often, including excessive oil consumption on the 2.4L Tigershark engine, rough or delayed shifting from the 9-speed automatic transmission, battery drain and electrical problems, engine start-stop system faults, Uconnect screen freezing and glitches, the Service Dynamic Steering Torque warning, and water leaks on models equipped with the My Sky removable roof panels.
Common symptoms to watch for include: low oil level between oil changes, the check engine light with codes such as P06DD or P06DA (oil pump solenoid), misfire codes like P0300, harsh shifting or hesitation when accelerating, a battery or charging system warning, warning messages appearing at startup, and slow cranking or no start after the vehicle sits. A full-system scanner such as the YOUCANIC UCAN-II can read fault codes from all modules on the Renegade, which makes it much easier to figure out which of these problems you are dealing with.
The Jeep Renegade shares its platform, engines, and many components with the Fiat 500X, so most of these problems and checks also apply to 2016-2023 Fiat 500X models. The 2.4L Tigershark engine is also found in the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Compass, Dodge Dart, and Chrysler 200, so the engine-related issues in this video may apply to those vehicles as well.
