🔧 WHAT WE COVER

– Reinstalling the housing so it seats flush and stays sealed
– Testing the light before you finish
🚙 WHICH JEEP RENEGADE THIS APPLIES TO
This was filmed on a Jeep Renegade (BU) and applies across the 2015 through 2023 model years. The Renegade received a facelift for the 2019 model year, but the license plate light setup is essentially unchanged, so this procedure works the same for both pre-facelift (2015–2018) and facelift (2019–2023) Renegades.
🔁 RELATED / SISTER MODEL (WIDER HELP)
The Jeep Renegade shares its FCA Small Wide 4×4 platform with the Fiat 500X, which is built alongside it. The general approach — releasing the lens tab, popping the housing, and swapping the bulb — is a helpful reference for Fiat 500X owners too. Note that the 500X has its own rear styling and housing design, so the exact clip locations may differ.

💡 QUICK TIP
If the new bulb still doesn’t light, check the contacts and the ground — a corroded socket is the most common reason a fresh plate-light bulb stays dark. This is also an easy spot to upgrade to LED for a brighter, whiter plate light, just confirm it’s the correct size for your housing.
