Does the UCAN scanner need the internet to work?

No. The UCAN scanner is designed to work completely offline for all core diagnostic and service functions. You do not need a WiFi connection or mobile hotspot to scan your vehicle, read codes, clear codes, or perform service resets.

When You DO Need Internet

• Software updates: Connect to WiFi to download the latest vehicle coverage and feature updates
• Emailing reports: Send diagnostic reports directly from the scanner to any email address
• AI-powered diagnostics: The built-in AI feature analyzes your diagnostic trouble codes and provides possible causes, detailed explanations, and suggested next steps. This feature requires an active internet connection to work

For all other functions including reading and clearing codes, live data, service resets, and bidirectional controls, no internet connection is required.
