Why Won’t the DPF Regeneration Function Start on My Scanner?

If the DPF regeneration function will not start, the most likely cause is that the vehicle’s ECU has determined the filter is too heavily clogged for a forced regeneration.

When DPF Regen Works

The function works when the filter is partially loaded and system conditions are within acceptable limits.

When It Is Blocked

If the soot or ash load is too high, the ECU will block regeneration to protect the vehicle. In these cases:

• The DPF may need professional cleaning
• In severe cases, the DPF may need replacement
