Foxwell NT301 Review
Over the last few years, we have been reviewing OBD2 scanners. Just recently we had a chance do a review on Foxwell NT301 scanner and wanted to share our experience and thoughts with you. If you are in the market to buy an OBD2 scanner, you may be wondering how the Foxwell NT301 OBD2 scanner performs.
The Foxwell NT301 can read and erase codes but it can also retrieve a wealth of information from the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU is what triggers the Check ENgine Light when there is a problem with your car. The Foxwell NT301 scanner is OBDII and EOBD scanner covering all of the most popular protocols which means it works with virtually any vehicle manufactured from 1996 until now.
Foxwell NT301, here are the highlights.
- Read / Clear Fault Codes
- Broad Vehicle Coverage
- Green, Yellow, Red lights help you quickly determine the health of the car.
- Robust / Well Build Housing
- 2.8" Color Screen
- Easy to Use
- Check Emission Status
- Software can be updated
- Too large to be a pocket scanner
- Only works to clear ECU codes, not airbag /SRS/ABS or any other modules.
- Component testing didn't work on a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan.
Overall this is one of the best OBD2 scanners for under $100. Keep in mind that this is a code reader for the Check Engine Light (Service Engine Soon). If you have other lights on, such as the airbag, SRS, ABS, traction control, this scanner will not be able to read and clear those codes. You will need to purchase a multi-system OBD2 scanner which typically cost over $100. Read our article on Choosing the best OBD2 scanner for DIY auto repair.
