1997-1999

The 1996–1999 Acura CL came with different engine options over its production years. Initially, the 1997 model offered a 3.0 L V6 engine with 200 hp or a 2.2 L 4-cylinder engine with 145 hp. In 1998 and 1999, the 4-cylinder was updated to a 2.3 L engine with 150 hp. Trim options included a “Premium” level that featured leather upholstery and, in the 3.0 L version, a high-quality Acura/Bose stereo. By 1999, the “Premium” trim was discontinued, making leather upholstery standard across all models. Wheel designs varied yearly, with the 3.0 L model transitioning from five-spoke to seven-spoke and then to a multi-spoke design. The 4-cylinder model moved from a six-spoke to a 5-spoke double-prong design. The 4-cylinder model also offered a 5-speed manual transmission option. All CL models featured galvanized body panels to prevent rust.
