2007–2013

In April 2006, Acura introduced the 2007 Acura MD-X Concept at the New York International Auto Show, previewing the upcoming redesigned MDX’s exterior styling. The second-generation MDX was officially launched on October 17, 2006, in the U.S. This new model featured a wider track and longer wheelbase, although rear visibility was somewhat reduced compared to the previous generation. It incorporated Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure for improved collision energy absorption. The suspension received tuning at Germany’s Nürburgring race track. Under the hood, the engine was upgraded to a 3.7-liter V6, producing 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. It boasted impressive acceleration, going from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, with EPA estimated fuel efficiency of 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. This model introduced the “SH-AWD” (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system, known for its advanced capabilities and active rear differential, offering enhanced handling. The MDX could also tow up to 5,000 lb. Available option packages for the 2007 through 2009 model years included Sport, Technology, and Entertainment, offering various enhancements and features.
