Position 1 – Country
The first position in the Acura VIN shows the country of assembly. This is where the Acura was manufactured. Acura’s are manufactured in Canada, the USA, and Japan.

Position 9 – Check Number
This is used to verify if the VIN is valid. A formula developed by the DOT generates this number.

This indicates the plant where the vehicle was assembled. Acura has the following specific codes.
