How to Decode Bentley VIN

Position 1 – Country

The first position in the VIN shows the country of assembly. Bentley VINs start with S for Europe.

Position 9 – Check Number

This is used to verify if the VIN is valid. This number is generated by a formula developed by the DOT.

Position 11

This indicates the plant where the vehicle was assembled. Bentley has its specific codes.

  • C – Crewe
  • W – Willesden

Position 12 -17

Position twelve through seventeen shows the serial number of the car. Often indicates a sequence that helps the manufacturer when and where the car came off the assembly line. Bentley can choose any six-digit number they like, as this number is not standardized.
