What Is the FCA 12+8 Adapter and When Do I Need It?

← Back to All Questions
Home › Questions & Answers › What Is the FCA 12+8 Adapter and When Do I Need It?
Applies to: UCAN-II, UCAN-II Pro

Starting in 2018, Fiat Chrysler vehicles (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Fiat) include a Secure Gateway Module (SGW) that blocks most aftermarket scan tools from full diagnostic access through the OBD-II port.

What the FCA 12+8 Adapter Does

It bypasses the security gateway by connecting directly to the vehicle’s internal 12-pin and 8-pin diagnostic connectors, allowing your YOUCANIC scanner to communicate fully with all modules.

Where to Connect It

The connection point varies by vehicle but is typically found:

  • Behind the glove box
  • Passenger-side kick panel
  • Behind the infotainment/radio unit
