2005-2012

The 2005 Acura RL, internally known as “KB1,” introduced innovative features such as “Super Handling-All Wheel Drive” (SH-AWD) and torque vectoring, allowing power distribution not only front-to-back but also side-to-side for improved handling. It featured a 300 hp 3.5 L V6 SOHC VTEC engine, advanced aerodynamics, and an ACE body structure. Technological advancements included an adaptive cruise control (ACC) system, a Collision Mitigation Braking System, and a sophisticated voice-recognition navigation system. The RL also employed an advanced sound system with noise compensation technology and active noise cancellation. Furthermore, the car featured an innovative dual-screen infotainment system, a rearview camera, and optional run-flat tires. A-Spec packages enhanced performance with sports suspension and wheels while providing an aerodynamic appearance package. In 2009, Acura introduced firmer suspension and visual upgrades as standard features.
