📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) combines a combustion engine with electric motors and a high-voltage battery (200-350V) to improve fuel efficiency. The system switches between electric-only, engine-only, and combined power based on conditions. The battery charges through regenerative braking and the engine — no external charging needed.
HEV diagnostics require access to hybrid control module, battery management system, inverter, and motor controller. Safety warning: HEV high-voltage systems are lethal (200-350V+). Never open orange high-voltage components without specialized training. The YOUCANIC UCAN-II reads hybrid system DTCs on supported vehicles.
