TPMS
📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) monitors individual tire pressures using direct sensors (battery-powered RF transmitters inside each wheel) or indirect monitoring (ABS speed sensors detecting rolling radius changes). The warning light illuminates when pressure drops approximately 25% below the door placard specification. A steady TPMS light means low pressure; a flashing TPMS light for 60-90 seconds then staying steady indicates a system fault.
TPMS relearn is required after tire rotation, new sensors, or wheel swaps. The YOUCANIC UCAN-II supports OBD2 relearn (writing sensor IDs through the port), auto-relearn, and stationary relearn. Direct sensor batteries last 5-10 years; dead sensors require full replacement.
