The DoIP (Diagnostics over Internet Protocol) adapter is used to communicate with newer vehicles that no longer rely solely on traditional CAN bus communication.

When You Need It

Newer vehicles from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and other manufacturers are transitioning to DoIP-based communication. If your vehicle requires DoIP, the scanner will prompt you to connect the DoIP adapter.

When You Don’t Need It

Most vehicles manufactured before 2019–2020 use traditional CAN bus communication and do not require a DoIP adapter.
