What Is Transmission Adaptation Reset?
Transmission Adaptation Reset clears the learned shift behavior stored by the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Over time, the TCM adapts shift points, clutch pressure, and engagement timing to compensate for wear. After service, these learned values may need to be reset.
When You Need It
- After transmission fluid change
- After valve body repair or replacement
- After TCM replacement
- When experiencing harsh, delayed, or erratic shifts
- After torque converter replacement
What Happens After Reset
The transmission will go through a brief relearning period (typically 50–100 miles of mixed driving) during which shift quality may feel slightly different as the TCM builds new adaptation values.
Is My Vehicle Supported?
Transmission adaptation reset is supported on many automatic transmissions. Verify at coverage.youcanic.com or email support@youcanic.com with your VIN.
