2013–2018

The second-generation Acura RDX was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January 2012 and went on sale in April of the same year. It saw significant changes compared to its predecessor, as the turbocharged four-cylinder engine was replaced by a 3.5-liter V6 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This change resulted in improved fuel efficiency, with EPA estimates of 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined, achieved partly by utilizing variable displacement (VCM) technology. Notably, the more complex SH-AWD system from the previous generation was replaced with a simpler and less expensive all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. Standard features included a 5-inch display, a tri-angle rear-view backup camera, keyless entry with push-button start, Bluetooth for hands-free calling, and wireless streaming of Pandora music to the audio system. The Technology package added a power tailgate and an upgraded 60-gigabyte hard-disc-based navigation system with an 8-inch screen, offering 15GB of music storage.
