The fourth-generation Acura TL, introduced in 2009, featured a more aggressive design and a larger size, with an extended wheelbase and increased dimensions. It came in two variants: the base TL with front-wheel drive and a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 280 hp, and the TL SH-AWD with a 3.7-liter V6 engine generating 305 hp. The SH-AWD model featured Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, designed for performance, with power distribution varying based on driving conditions and acceleration. Both models received brake upgrades, larger wheels, and electric power steering. The SH-AWD model boasted interior refinements, firmer suspension, and steering feedback. Notably, a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission became available for the SH-AWD model in 2010, featuring enhancements like a self-adjusting dual-mass clutch system and unique tuning for improved performance. The fourth-generation TL also introduced electronic conveniences like a central multifunction display, an advanced audio system, navigation with weather information and traffic rerouting, Bluetooth Audio, and a hard drive for audio storage. Additionally, a Technology Package offered premium features such as leather seats, Keyless Access, and an upgraded audio system with ten speakers and DTS CD compatibility.
