📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
The inverter converts high-voltage DC from the battery into three-phase AC to drive the electric motor, and reverses during regen braking to convert motor-generated AC back to DC for charging. It uses high-power IGBT or SiC switching devices. The inverter requires active cooling — coolant circuit failures cause thermal shutdowns.
Inverter failures cause complete loss of propulsion or reduced power modes. DTCs reference power stage faults, over-temperature, isolation faults, and motor phase errors. The YOUCANIC UCAN-II reads inverter module codes on supported platforms. Inverter service requires high-voltage training.
