LKA
📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
LKA (Lane Keep Assist) is an active ADAS feature that goes beyond LDW by providing gentle steering input to guide the vehicle back into its lane when it begins drifting without a turn signal. LKA uses the forward-facing camera to track lane markings and applies corrective torque through the electric power steering system. Most LKA systems can be overridden by the driver applying steering force, and they disengage at low speeds or when lane markings are not clearly visible.
LKA requires accurate camera calibration and a properly calibrated steering angle sensor. After windshield replacement, alignment, or steering system work, LKA may need recalibration. The YOUCANIC UCAN-II can read ADAS and EPS module codes related to LKA faults. Common complaints include the system being too aggressive or too weak in corrections — some vehicles allow sensitivity adjustment through the infotainment settings.
