How to read Hyundai Codes

You will need a Hyundai multi-system OBD-2 scanner to read Hyundai-specific fault codes.

Follow these steps to retrieve the fault code from your Hyundai.

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Connect your OBD-II scanner to the OBD-2 port under the dashboard on the driver’s side.
    Note: Even a $20 generic OBD-2 scanner can retrieve check engine / ECU Hyundai fault codes. Those are P-codes in the Hyundai list below. See the list of best-selling OBD-2 scanners. You will need an advanced scanner to read ABS, SRS, and Air Conditioner codes.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the on position. Don’t start the car.

    This is an unusual code. Never seen it before. Can you check again?
    It’s close to P0351- This denotes an electric problem in the computer or something as simple as an issue with the spark plug.

    I have a 2001 Hyundai Grandeur V6 , in the last few months , the abs and check engine light has been coming on at intervals , I took the car into a mechanical shop to check and they told me it came up with fault codes c1200 & c1611 re the abs and p0340 , p0335 and p1159 re the check engine , they said to notify them if they reappear , within a few days both reappeared at intervals , when the check engine light comes on , sometimes the car stalls , and after several attempts I get it going , while trying , vehicle turns over slowly sounding like stater motor noise .
