Renting a YOUCANIC full-system scanner How It Works
Modern cars are rolling computers, which makes basic repairs more complicated. You can’t do much yourself without the help of a full-system scanner. Some cars require you to register a new battery after replacement; others require a scanner to assist in brake bleeding jobs! If you don’t have $500 to buy a full-system scanner for your maintenance needs, why not rent one instead?
With YOUCANIC’s rental program, you can gain full diagnostic access to your car for just $85 per week!

Some cars do not require battery registration at all, so renting a tool to register a battery won’t do much. Plenty of ABS systems bleed perfectly well with two people and a brake pedal, with no scan tool involvement. Some service procedures exist on one model year and not the next.
What the $85 Covers
Our rental fee covers shipping and testing costs. Before these units are shipped back out, our team ensures that these scanners are in good working condition. If something is broken, we fix it.
The Rental Window
The rental period begins when the scanner is delivered. Users will have one week to use their scanner and get it shipped back to us. The rental period ends when the post office scans the return label.
There is a $10 late fee if the scanner is sent back after the rental period has ended. If you need more time to use the scanner, just reach out and let our support team know. We want to make sure you can get your car back on the road!
Returning it
Every rental is sent out with a prepaid return label. If you misplaced your label, let us know, and we can email you another one!
Keeping it
If you decide to keep your scanner after your rental period is over, all you have to do is email our support team. We can treat your scanner like an open box unit. The rental fee and deposit are the same price as our open-box scanners for a reason!
What the scanner does
At the moment, only UCAN-II-C Pro scanners are available to rent. These scanners have the same software as our UCAN-II-D Pro scanners, just without blank TPMS programming capabilities. It is a full system scanner, which means it talks to every module on the car rather than only the engine’s computer.
- Electronic parking brake service mode, which retracts the rear caliper motors so pads can be changed.
- ABS service and bleeding, cycling the pump and valves as needed.
- Battery registration, on the cars that need it.
- Bidirectional tests, commanding fans, injectors, the fuel pump, and other components so you can confirm what works instead of blindly swapping parts.
- Service resets and relearns, including throttle and steering angle on supported models.
- Reading and clearing codes on every module, with live data.
Coverage varies by make, model, and year; before you rent, please contact our support team with your VIN to confirm coverage.
When renting makes sense
- You have one repair in front of you that needs a service function, such as replacing rear pads on a car with an electronic parking brake.
- You want to confirm a diagnosis with live data and active tests before buying an expensive part.
- A shop has quoted you for a module, and you want to see the codes yourself.
- You own one car and will not need the tool again for a year.
When buying makes more sense
If you own several cars, maintain them yourself, or have multiple repair jobs coming up, and might need a scanner for longer than a week. Buy the tool instead. And if you rent first and reach that conclusion halfway through the week, keeping it costs you nothing extra.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the rental?
Seven days, counted from the day the scanner is delivered to you.
Is the deposit refundable?
Yes. The $300 security deposit is returned in full when the scanner comes back in its original condition. The $85 rental fee is not refundable.
Does shipping time count against my week?
No. The week begins on delivery, and the return journey does not count either. You need it shipped back by day seven, not delivered by day seven.
Can I keep the scanner instead of returning it?
Yes. Email us and nothing further is due. The rental fee plus the deposit become the purchase price.
Do you rent to Canada?
No. Rentals are United States addresses only.
How do I know the scanner covers my car?
Email support with your VIN and the job you are planning, and we will confirm before you order.
