The exterior enhancements include a panoramic sunroof, 19 or 20-inch alloy rims, styling elements borrowed from other Acura models like the RDX, TLX, and a distinct grille emblem. The interior is upgraded with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, Acura’s first 12-inch digital full TFT instrument cluster, a touchpad, 16-way power front seats with memory settings, removable center second-row seats, and expanded legroom and headroom compared to the previous generation MDX. There’s also an optional 16-speaker audio system with roof-mounted speakers and a foot sensor for Hands-Free Access power tailgate. The key fob has been redesigned with a unique shape. Powertrains have been improved, with a 3.5-liter V6 paired with a 10-speed transmission available in multiple trims, with optional all-wheel drive (AWD) for select models. The Type-S trim features a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 and standard all-wheel drive. The MDX incorporates a double wishbone suspension, forged aluminum components, and larger front brake rotors for better handling. High-strength steel, press-hardened steel, and aluminum comprise a significant portion of the vehicle’s body mass. The rear body is reinforced to support towing, with a standard capacity of 3,500 pounds, which can be increased to 5,000 pounds with the addition of a transmission cooler kit, available as an accessory for AWD models.
