Chrysler Stalling due to Powertrain Module Problem
Several 2017, 2018, and 2019 Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat, Jeep, and Ram models have been recalled due to a problem with the voltage regulator chip in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that can cause the engine to stall. Details about this recall can be found on the National Highway Administration Website Recall 18V524000.
Symptoms
- Engine Stalls
- The car will not start.
- The engine starts and then shuts off immediately.
- The engine loses power and then dies.
Problem

This problem is caused by a defective chip in the powertrain controller. Once the chip fails, the powertrain module stops working, causing the vehicle not to start or stall while driving.
The typical fix for this problem is to replace the PCM module. It is possible to troubleshoot the PCM and replace the failed chip, but your mechanic or dealer is less likely to perform this solution.
