Hyundai Elantra Front Turn Signal Blinker Light Bulb Replacement
Learn how to replace the front turn signal light bulb on the Hyundai Elantra 2011-2016, also known as the front blinker light.
The owner’s manual recommends removing the headlight assembly to replace the turn signal light on this generation Hyundai Elantra. While it is difficult, replacing the turn signal light bulb is possible without removing the headlight assembly.
What you will need
- P28 8W light bulb (Amber)
Procedure
Open Hood. Turn off the engine and place your Hyundai Elantra in Park. Remove the key from the ignition.
Pull on the hood release under the dashboard.
Press the hood latch at the front of the hood to release the hood.
Remove the turn signal bulb from the back of the headlight. Getting to the turn signal socket is a challenge. The owner’s manual recommends that you remove the headlight assembly. While challenging, it is possible to access the turn signal bulb without removing the headlight. Try to remove the turn signal socket without removing the headlight.
- The turn signal socket needs to be turned counterclockwise slightly, and the bulb socket comes out. If you cannot replace the turn signal bulb on your Hyundai Elantra, remove the headlight assembly to change the light bulb.
- Install a new turn signal light bulb. Install the new turn signal bulb. Insert the new bulb into the socket. Install the socket in the assembly by aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the headlight assembly hole. Press the light bulb and twist it clockwise. It only needs to rotate a little bit to lock in place.
Before you start work on changing the turn signal light bulb on your Hyundai Elantra, make sure you have the correct light bulb type. Hyundai Elantra uses a P28 8W light bulb, and you can also upgrade to an LED type if you prefer.
