Mercedes-Benz Engine Change Engine Air Filter Replacement DIY
Is your Mercedes-Benz decreased its gas mileage, its power decreased, and the air filter appears dirty? Learn how to fix the problem by replacing your Mercedes-Benz engine air filter.
This guide provides instructions on how to replace the engine air filter on 6 and 8-cylinder Mercedes-Benz engines used on C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, ML-Class, G-Class, R-Class, CLS-Class, SLK-Class from 1998 to 2007. All trims including 240, 320, 430, 500, 55AMG, 600.
What you will need
- Torx Bit Set
- Air Filter
- Mercedes V6 M112 Engine Air Filter
- Mercedes V8 M113 Engine Air Filter
- Mercedes V6 M112 Engine Air Filter
- Ratchet wrench
- Work gloves
Procedure
- Park the Mercedes on level ground and set parking brakes.
- Remove the air intake duct that goes to the engine cover.
- Lift engine cover.
- Flip engine cover upside down.
- Remove four (for each filter) T25 Torx bolts.
- Remove the old engine air filter.
- Install the new one.
- Reinstall the plastic housing.
- Replace the second air filter following the same procedure.
