These steps show how to replace the ABS wheel speed sensor on a 2019 Nissan Sentra. While this shows how to replace the wheel speed sensor on a Nissan Sentra 2013-2019, the instructions are very similar for other models, including Nissan Versa, Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder, etc.

What you will need


  1. Park the vehicle on a flat ground surface.The Nissan Sentra 2019.
  2. Loosen the wheel’s lug nuts by turning them counterclockwise using a lug wrench.
  3. Jack up the vehicle’s front and support the vehicle with jack stands.
  4. Remove the lug nuts on the wheel and carry the wheel away from the vehicle.Removing the wheel of the Nissan Sentra.
  5. Remove the wheel well by pulling out the push clips holding to it. Use a flathead screwdriver/fastener remover tool to pull the push clips out.Removing the front wheel well of the Nissan Sentra.
  6. Locate the wheel speed sensor on the back of the rotor.The wheel speed sensor of the Nissan Sentra.
  7. Remove the 10mm bolt on the sensor by turning it counterclockwise using a 10mm socket/nut driver.Removing the bolt holding the wheel speed sensor.

  10. Detach the cable clips from the vehicle by pulling them out. Use a pick tool to pull out the clips easily.Pulling the cable clips out from the vehicle.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector of the wheel speed sensor by pressing the clip and pulling the connector out.Disconnecting the electrical connector of the wheel speed sensor.
  12. Connect the electrical connector of the new wheel speed sensor by pushing it into its connection port.Connecting the electrical connector of the wheel speed sensor.
  13. Attach the cable clips to the vehicle by lining them up and pressing them in until they snap into position.Pushing the cable clip back to the vehicle.
  14. Line up the rubber grommets to the clips and press them in to set them into place.Pressing the rubber grommet to the cable clip.
  15. Line up the sensor and insert it into the knuckle. Then reinstall the 10mm bolt by turning it clockwise using the 10mm socket/nut driver.Installing the new wheel speed sensor of the Nissan Sentra.
  16. Place the wheel well back into the vehicle and reinstall its push clips to set it back into place.
  17. Carry the wheel back to the vehicle and reinstall the lug nuts.

ABS Light On
