Procedure

  1. Open the hood. Pull the hood release under the dashboard and unlock the hood latch, then pull the hood up and secure it open using the hood strut/prop.Pulling the hood release of the Nissan Sentra.Sliding the tab to the left to unlock the hood latch.
  2. Remove the engine cover by pulling it up to detach the tabs.Removing the engine cover of the Nissan Sentra.
  3. Locate the ignition coil on the backside of the engine.The ignition coil cylinder 1 of the Nissan Sentra.
  4. Detach the hose above the ignition coil to have easier access to the ignition coil. Press on the clip and pull the hose out to detach.Detaching the hose above the ignition coil.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector of the ignition coil by pressing the clip and pulling the connector out.Disconnecting the electrical connector of the ignition coil.
  6. Remove the 10mm bolt on the ignition coil using a 10mm socket/nut driver.The 10mm bolt holding the ignition coil.Removing the 10mm bolt holding the ignition coil.
  7. Once the bolt is removed, pull the ignition coil out from the engine.Pulling the ignition coil out from the vehicle.
  8. Line up the new ignition coil and press it to set it.Installing the new ignition coil of the Nissan Sentra.
  9. Reinstall the 10mm bolt on the ignition coil and tighten it to its proper torque specification.Reinstalling the 10mm bolt of the ignition coil.
  10. Connect the electrical connector to the new ignition coil by pushing it to its connection port.Connecting the electrical connector to the new ignition coil.
  11. Reattach the hose back to the vehicle by pushing it and placing the clip to set it into place.Reattaching the hose back to the vehicle.
  12. Line up the engine cover and push it in to set it into place.Reinstalling the engine cover of the Nissan Sentra.
