Mazda 5 Reverse Backup Light Bulb Replacement
This guide provides instructions on changing the backup light (reverse light bulb) on a Mazda 5 from 2010 through 2018.
What you will need
- 7440 Bulb Type – Mazda 5 uses two 7440 bulbs for the reverse light. The recommended bulb needs to be 21 watts.
- Screwdriver
Procedure

- Turn off the ignition and park your Mazda 5. Place the shifter in Park and set the Emergency Parking brakes.
- Identify the backup light bulb on your Mazda 5.

- Open the liftgate. On the back of the liftgate, you will notice an access panel. Remove the panel using a flathead screwdriver.

- To replace the backup light bulb, twist it counterclockwise to remove the socket. The bulb itself is pulled straight out of the socket.
If you notice that the backup light bulb still doesn’t work after you replace the bulb, the fuse may be blown.
