- Jack Stand
How do you change the battery on a Dodge Journey?
This battery is tricky to replace as it is not easily seen. Here is the detailed procedure for battery replacement.
- Engage the park brakes on a flat surface for your Dodge Journey.
- Break loose the lug nuts for the front left tire.
- Jack up the front left corner of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
- Remove the forward wheel well liner.
This will expose the battery behind the front bumper.
- A 10mm spanner is needed to unfasten the negative post.

- Loosen and disconnect the positive terminal using the same wrench.

- Use the 10mm wrench to remove the bracket on top of the battery.
- Handle the battery off from the battery holder with both hands. Note the battery is heavy.
- Install the new battery in reverse order.
- Connect the negative battery terminal last.
Note: Before refixing the wheel liner and tires, it is better to try to start the vehicle and run it for a few minutes. If cranking and starting are in good operation, then you can proceed to reinstall everything back.

The battery on a Dodge Journey is situated behind the front bumper and not in the engine bay. It is not required to remove the front bumper just to replace the battery. Dodge Journey vehicles typically use a Group Size 26 battery with a minimum cold-cranking amps of 525.

This will expose the battery behind the front bumper.
