FCA Chrysler Jeep Dodge Fiat Ram Security Gateway Module Location
The FCA SGW (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Secure Gateway) was created in 2018. Since 2018, some cars from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia have had the FCA SGW, and now almost every FCA vehicle has the SGW module, but what is it exactly? The purpose of the SGW is to limit “the ability of non-registered and non-authenticated users to perform intrusive diagnostics such as bi-directional controls”. It prevents you from enabling active tests, such as turning on fans, locking doors, operating windows, actuation, relearning, and calibration. This does mean it makes some diagnostic troubleshooting harder, but it does not disable the OBD II port, where you can still read live data and DTC.
