    • Capacity: 3.2 quarts / 3.5L
      • 1 quart (US) = 0.9463 liter
  • Engine Oil Filter – See the oil filter list below.
  • Oil Filter Wrench or Oil Filter Pliers
  • Oil drain pan
  • Oil Funnel
  • Work Gloves
  • Ramps or Floor Jack
  • Jack stands (x2)

Procedure

  1. Jack up the vehicle. Drive the car on ramps or use a floor jack to raise it at the front jacking points. Place the transmission in Park. Turn the ignition off and remove the key from the ignition.Jack up the Mitsubishi Mirage.
  2. Secure the vehicle with jack stands. Always secure the vehicle with jack stands. Jack stands must support the vehicle frame. Do not place a jack stand under engine or suspension components. The back of the car does not need to be raised. Securing the vehicle with jack stands.
  3. Place wheel chocks behind the rear tires to prevent the vehicle from rolling. If there are no available wheel chocks, use a block to stop the car from moving.
  4. Allow for the engine to cool down for at least fifteen minutes. If the motor is already excellent, continue to the next step.
  5. Locate the oil drain plug and place an oil pan under the drain bolt.Oil drain plug of the Mitsubishi Mirage. Ensure the oil pan can capture all of the engine oil.Oil drain plug of the Mitsubishi Mirage. Setting the oil pan below the oil drain plug.
  6. Loosen the oil drain plug, then remove it by hand. Loosen the 17mm oil drain bolt using a wrench and turn it counterclockwise. If removing the oil drain bolt is extremely difficult, ensure that you are not turning the bolt in the wrong direction.Loosen the 17mm oil drain plug of the Mitsubishi Mirage. This is how you loosen your oil drain bolt on a Mitsubishi Mirage.
  7. Drain engine oil. Carefully remove the oil drain plug and allow the engine oil to drain for several minutes. Hot engine oil can cause burns if it comes in contact with your skin. Draining the engine oil of the Mitsubishi Mirage.
  8. Replace drain plug copper washer. It is recommended to replace the copper washer at every oil change.  Pull out the old washer and install the new washer in the drain plug.

  9. Install the dr ain plug.   Screw it by hand initially to avoid cross-threading or to damage the threads. Use a torque wrench to tighten the drain plug to specification. See torque specs below. Do not use a breaker bar to pull the drain plug. Reinstalling the oil drain plug of the Mitsubishi Mirage. Tightening the 17mm oil drain plug using a wrench.
  10. Locate the engine oil filter and replace it.Engine oil filter of the Mitsubishi Mirage. Use an oil wrench or filter prier to remove the oil filter. Keep an oil drain plan near the oil filter, as oil may drip from the oil filter when you remove the oil filter. Place a thin layer of oil on the oil filter gasket. This will make it easy to remove the oil filter at the following oil change and avoid oil leaks. Thread the new oil filter by hand and get it to hand tight.Changing the air filter of the Mitsubishi Mirage.
  11. Remove the oil cap at the top of the engine by turning it counterclockwise.Removing the oil cap of the engine.Use a funnel to add engine oil. Slowly pour the engine oil in to avoid overflow.

  12. Check the Oil Level. We suggest adding the recommended capacity minus one quart (liter) to start, then adding the rest slowly after you check the engine oil level.Double check the engine oil level. Then add the last quart slowly and frequently check the oil level to get the correct one. Do not start the vehicle until you add the required engine oil.

When done putting the engine oil, put the oil cap back by turning it clockwise. Use the dipstick to check the oil level.

  13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for oil leaks.
  14. Remove the floor jacks and get the vehicle off the ramps and on level ground. Wait at least ten minutes and recheck the oil level. This will allow the engine oil to return to the oil pan so that you can take an accurate measurement. If the level is low, add one quart at a time, wait a few minutes and recheck the engine oil level.
  15. Reset the oil service reminder on the instrument cluster. See our guide on how to perform this step.
