Read & Clear Toyota Check Engine Fault Codes

Is your Check Engine Light illuminating on your Toyota dashboard? Learn how to fix the problem by reading and clearing the fault codes using an OBD-II Scanner.


First, you must follow the procedure to learn why a warning light has turned on. Once you have the code, you will need to fix the problem and then use the same procedure to reset Toyota fault codes, which will reset the corresponding warning light, the Check Engine Light, the ABS light, the and the airbag light. To clear the check engine on a Toyota and read codes from ECU, you will need an OBD-II scanner.

Suppose you need to reset other warning lights such as airbag, traction control, and ABS and retrieve fault codes for systems such as transmission, airbag, anti-lock brakes, and traction control. In that case, you will need a multi-system OBD-II scanner such as YOUCANIC Full System Scanner.

Procedure

The following procedure will allow you to read fault codes and clear warning lights on any 1996 and newer Toyota vehicle, including Toyota Corolla, Sienna, Camry, Highlander, Rav4, 4Runner, etc.
