S-Class S550 W221 Restoration Project
This past weekend, we picked up a 2008 S550 at an auction. The car was sold as is with bad air suspension and a bad transmission. This car would have probably ended up in a junkyard. This would be the perfect project, right? As you can see from the pictures, the car was trashed, making a Mercedes addict sad and upset.
This car has quite a few issues:
- Transmission won’t move when placed in gear D or R.
- Air suspension
- Front bumper damaged
- Fender damaged
- Damaged wheels
- ABS, ESP, and several warning lights
While we are not worried about the air suspension issue, we hope it will not need a new transmission. This car has 722.9 transmissions, which had quite a few issues in the early days.

Even though this car was trashed, we look forward to restoring this amazing vehicle, which sold for almost $90k new.
