Brake Light/Clearance Light Bulb Replacement Guide Mazda 3 2013-2018

Is the brake light/clearance light of your Mazda 3 not working? Learn how to fix the problem by replacing your vehicle’s light bulb. This guide is a step-by-step procedure for replacing the brake light bulb and clearance light on a 2013-2018 Mazda 3.


What you will need

  • Flat screwdriver or fastener removal tool
  • Light bulb 7443
    • 7443CVB2,
    • 7443RLED,
    • 7443LLB2,
    • 7443B2

Procedure

  1. Unlock the vehicle and open the trunk by pulling the trunk release under the dashboard.The trunk release of the 2016 Mazda 3.Opening the trunk of the 2016 Mazda 3.
  2. Remove the two push clips on the trunk shield behind the outer tail light assembly. Use a flat screwdriver or fastener removal tool to pull the push clips out.The push pins holding the trunk shield.
  3. Pull the trunk shield panel down to have access to the socket and the electrical connector of the brake light and clearance light. The bulb is a double-element bulb type.Pulling the trunk shield down to have access to the connectors and bolts on the outer tail light assembly.The electrical connectors behind the outer tail light assembly.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector by pushing the clip and pulling the connector out.Disconnecting the electrical connectors of the outer tail light assembly.
  5. Twist the socket counterclockwise and pull it out to remove it from the tail light assembly.Twisting the socket to remove it from the tail light assembly.Removing the brake light and clearance light socket.
  6. Remove the light bulb by pulling it out from the socket.Removing the light bulb from the socket.
  7. Install the new light bulb to the socket and push it in until it snaps into place.Installing the brake light and clearance light bulb.
  8. Line up the socket back to the tail light assembly and twist it clockwise to lock it into place.Installing the socket back to the tail light assembly.
  9. Reconnect the electrical connector by pushing it into the socket’s connection port.Reconnecting the electrical connector of the brake light and clearance light.
  10. Place the trunk shield to its original orientation and reinstall its push clips.Placing the trunk door shield back to its original orientation 3.Reinstalling the push clips on the trunk shield.
  11. Check the new light bulb by switching on the brake and clearance light.
