Keyless Remote Start a Lexus Engine

Want to start your Lexus using your Key Fob Remote? Start your vehicle using your keyless remote by following the procedures below. This works only on Lexus with a remote engine start enabled or an active Enform Subscription.

Make sure the vehicle is parked in a well-ventilated area. Do not let the engine idle in an enclosed space. For example, do not start your Lexus remotely if the garage door is closed.

Procedure

1. Press the lock button on the remote three times.
2. Hold the lock button for about three seconds on the third press, and the engine will start.
3. Lexus engine will run on idle until the engine reaches operating temperature, about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the engine will turn off.  In-depth instructions can be found here. 

Remote and vehicle can not be more than thirty feet apart.

This procedure will not work if your Lexus does not have the remote engine start feature installed at the factory.

Remote Start Lexus Engine via Smartphone

Newer Lexus vehicles can be started via a smartphone. To start your Lexus with your phone remotely, you will need a Lexus Enform Remote Service subscription and the Enform app for your smartphone (Android or iPhone).

When the vehicle first purchases a new car, you will get a free Lexus Enform Remote for one year. After that, you need to buy a subscription.

Lexus Enform’s website shows that the Remote subscription can be obtained for $8 per month or $80 annually for many models starting around 2016. Call your local Lexus dealer to check if Enform is available for your model.

Lexus Enform allows you to lock and unlock doors. It also allows you to remotely start the engine and change the climate control via the Lexus app.
