Procedure
- Open the hood. Pull the hood release under the dashboard.
- Locate the hood latch on the vehicle’s front and press the tab to the left to unlock it.
- Pull the hood up and set the hood strut to hold the hood open.
- Locate the air filter housing on the driver’s side of the engine compartment next to the battery.
- Unlock the clips on the air filter housing by moving the right side clip to the right and the backside clip to the left.
- Pull the housing of the air filter up.
- Remove the air filter from the housing by sliding it out.
- If the housing has a lot of dirt and debris, clean it using an air vacuum.
- Line up the new air filter and place it in the housing. Make sure that the air filter is in the proper orientation.
- Line up the cover back to the air filter housing.
- Set the clips of the air filter housing by sliding them back to their lock position.
- Close the hood and start the engine to ensure proper engine operation.
If the check engine light comes on after replacing the air filter, it is possible that the MAF sensor was accidentally unplugged. Check the connector to the MAF sensor.
