Before You Start: Which Refrigerant Does Your Car Use?

• Check the label under the hood. It lists the refrigerant type and the factory charge amount. Most cars built before about 2015 use R134a. Many newer cars use R1234yf; manufacturers switched model by model between roughly the 2014 and 2021 model years.

Procedure

1. Park your Jaguar on level ground. Set the parking brake.
2. To unlatch the hood open, pull the hood release lever under the dashboard.
3. Locate the low pressure A/C service port in the engine bay. It has a cap marked L and sits on the larger diameter aluminum line.
4. Start the engine and allow it to idle. The transmission must be in Park.
5. Turn on climate control. Set the blower fan speed to maximum. Set the temperature to the maximum cold.
6. Connect your AC recharge kit to the AC port and follow the instructions that come with your AC kit.
   

When you are done, reinstall the service port cap snugly. It keeps dirt out of the valve and acts as a backup seal.

Still Blowing Warm After a Recharge?

If the compressor does not engage or the A/C still blows warm, the problem may be electrical rather than low refrigerant, such as a pressure sensor, compressor clutch or blend door fault.
