2012-2017 Toyota Camry Remove Steering Wheel
Need to replace the steering wheel of your Toyota Camry? This guide is a step-by-step procedure for replacing the steering wheel on a 2012-2017 Toyota Camry XV50.
What you will need
- Toyota Camry XV50 Steering Wheel
- 19mm Socket Wrench
- Threadlocker
- Marker
Procedure
- Remove the airbag. If you need help with this step follow the tutorial first.
Let someone hold the steering wheel and loosen the 19mm nut on the steering column using a 19mm socket wrench.
Remove the 19mm bolt by hand.
Draw lines on the steering column and steering wheel to easily distinguish the center when installing the new steering wheel.
Disconnect the electrical connector of the steering wheel and cruise control by pushing the clip and pulling the connector out.
Pull the steering wheel out and feed off the cables of the airbag connectors.
Do not twist/turn the clock spring to prevent the vehicle from having traction control issues or other issues caused by the clockspring.
Install the new/replacement steering wheel into the vehicleLine up the marks on the steering wheel and steering column.
Add some thread locker on the nut and install it back to the steering column. Tighten the nut with its proper torque specification.
Reconnect the two electrical connectors on the steering wheel.
