Replace ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Mazda 3 2013-2018

This guide is a step-by-step procedure for replacing the wheel speed sensor on a 2013-2018 Mazda 3. Mazda ABS wheel speed sensors are installed on the steering knuckle and are located at each wheel behind the rotors.
What you will need
- 10mm socket wrench
- Pick tool
- Mazda 3 ABS Wheel speed sensor
Procedure
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel and jack up the vehicle. Support the vehicle with jack stands and remove the wheel.
- Locate the wheel speed sensor behind the rotor, remove the 10mm bolt and pull the wheel speed sensor out using a plier.
- Follow the cable and release the clips holding the cable.
- Remove the push pins on the fender liner and pull the fender liner out to have access to the wheel speed sensor connector.
- Push on the clip of the connector and pull it out to remove it.
- Install the new wheel speed sensor and install the 10mm bolt on the sensor.
- Line up the cable back to the clips and lock the cables in.
- Push the connector into the connection port.
- Put the fender liner back in its original position and reinstall the push clips.
ABS Light On
If the ABS light is on after replacing your vehicle’s ABS wheel speed sensor, you can use the YOUCANIC Full System Scanner to clear the stored codes/reset the ABS light. The scanner can also read and clear fault codes through every vehicle’s control module.
Torque Specification
- ABS wheel speed sensor bolt: 4.0—6.0 N·m {41—61 kgf·cm, 36—53 in·lbf}
Can the ABS sensor affect cruise control?
Yes. If the ABS wheel speed sensor fails, it may disable the cruise control.
